Immigrant Visa Numbers to Run Out for Schedule A in the FutureMar 16, 2006 A recent posting on the American Immigration Lawyers Association website shows a response from the U.S. Department of State about immigrant visa number availability for Schedule A filings. There are currently about 20,000 Schedule A numbers remaining. The category will probably remain "current" through the end of FY-2006 but will have a cut off date some point during the first quarter of FY-2007. Schedule A filings are for nurses, physical therapists and aliens of exceptional ability. The numbers are current at the moment and people filing under schedule A can file their I-140 and I-485 applications concurrently. If the numbers fall behind, then they will not be able to file for permanent residency until the visa numbers show their priority date. |
