July1 is National Citizenship Day

Saturday, July 1, Is National Citizenship Day!

On July 1, Members of Congress and community organizations around the country will be holding citizenship workshops to provide legal permanent residents with help in completing naturalization applications. July 1 is the kickoff day for the Democracy Summer project of the We Are America Alliance. The new alliance of immigrant, grassroots, labor, local, statewide, and national organizations hopes to help a million eligible individuals become citizens and voters between now and Election Day.

Eve Guillergan, Esq. will be volunteering at the citizenship workshop located at the Grand Street Settlement in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. This event is being sponsored by Congresswoman Nydia M. Velazquez and Congressman Jose E. Serrano. There will be many volunteers and lawyers through the City University of New York. The event hopes to be able to register 400 people for naturalization and assist others to obtain answers to questions regarding their applications or the citizenship process.
